CMAA Foundation

Student Chapters

Members of a Student Chapter shall be Student Members of CMAA. Students may join CMAA as a Student Member regardless of the presence of an official CMAA Student Chapter on campus.

SoCal Student Chapters are hosted and supervised by the CMAA SoCal Chapter Foundation which also serves as the primary source for CMAA student communications.  There are currently 8 active CMAA SoCal student chapters and clubs within the Southern California Region. Each of these student organizations is supported by the SoCal Chapter Foundation Student Outreach Committee chaired by Matt McMenamin matthewmcmenamin@hillintl.com

The Student Outreach Committee is responsible for:
  • Overseeing CMAA SoCal Chapter Student programs, including our annual CMAA CA Rising CM Conference
  • Providing guidance on Student Chapter operations
  • Reviewing Student Chapter Applications from student groups wanting to be recognized as official CMAA Student Chapters
  • Disseminating applications for participation in our premier Internship and Scholarship Programs

Take a moment and visit the web pages of our student chapters to see what they are up to. They are always looking for members.

Student Social Media

Leda Christopher
Social Media Student Outreach Sub Committee Chair

Meet Leda Christopher. She is a class of 2023 CMAA SoCal Summer Intern and is leading the Foundation’s Social Media Sub Committee.  She worked as a consultant for the Lebanese Ministry of Culture and authored several books on art and architecture including four (4) UNESCO historic and scientific books on Islamic and Mediterranean Architecture.  After completing her master’s degree in interior architecture, Leda designed several residential and commercial architectural and interior projects in Lebanon, France, Qatar, Dubai, Italy, and Beverly Hills. Because Leda believes so strongly in giving a hand to youth and opening doors for the next generation, she co-founded the association of “Arte Italia Cultura,” a program of exchanging art between students from Italy and the United States.   She was introduced to the field of construction management during the pandemic when design opportunities slowed down and decided to pursue a degree in construction management at Cal State Northridge and obtain her CMIT certification. During a class visit by visiting professionals from the Foundation Board, she was introduced to CMAA and was pleased to have the opportunity to pursue her dream to serve and now give a hand to the next generation of AEC leaders
